    second on what Boscoe said. Starter motor circuits rarely have fuses but you are good to ensure clean contacts. 10 AWG is a little light for a starter so any added resistance could be a problem. The fuse in the new battery box is for everything but the starter.

    Let me add a second question. The carb flange has an o-ring. Do I use the gasket from the rebuild kit or not?

    I took apart my 99 9.9 2s carb and ran it thru my ultrasonic washer. What I didn't do was look at the orientation of the throttle plate before it came apart. I think the notch goes as shown in the pic because there's a jet right there. Can anyone confirm? TIA

    I'd suspect a loose wire or corroded connection somewhere. Totally dead to running perfect is rarely a carb or compression issue.
