    I went to my local Johnson dea I went to my local Johnson dealer for a thermostat and I think he gave me the wrong one. The part number he gave me was P/N 396987. Is this correct and if not can I still use it?

    I'm trying to remove the p I'm trying to remove the powerhead on my 1983 70hp Johnson and I'm having difficulties. I removed the three bolts on both side and disconnected the shift linkage. Is there anything else that I'm still missing?

    Idle rpm and Tach setting

    I just bought a boat with a 19 I just bought a boat with a 1983 70hp Johnson. What is the normal idle range and tachometer setting/pulse. I started the motor today with muffs and it wouldn't idle lower than 2000 rpm. Maybe it was still cold. Any suggestion would be great.
