What's this gauge for?

This gauge is in the console of my, new to me, pontoon. The only conections on the back are the two wires for the back light, and a tube that is not conected. The tube runs to the back of the boat where it is also not attached.

Hi, I honestly don't know but can take a guess.

First off, a Google search reveals that this is a gauge made by a company named KUS. They make several "lines" of gauges and sensors identified by alphabet letters like N L or R.
That one is a Q series that reads pounds per square inch (PSI)

SO....MY GUESS....
It might be a cooling system pressure monitor gauge. Lots of owners with larger horsepower rated engines will use a low pressure gauge like that to check on the "health" of their waterpump instead of just relying on watching the tell-tale stream.

If you know the pressure when the pump is new and at peak efficiency, a glance at the gauge can tell you if the pressure is falling off which could indicate a pump that is wearing out.

BUT....
I could be WAAAY off! Often am ;)

I don't know Bill....

...After I wrote that, I started thinking about it and my question is:

Would you run a tube of pressurized hot water like that up to your dash?

I think I would opt for a pressure transducer and an eletronic gauge.

But, who knows? I sure don't!

That IS how it was done back in the day with cars. And they ran the hot oil at 40 or 50 psi like that too!

Talk about a rude surprise if THAT spring a leak!!! OUCH!

I use copper line in my old car for oil pressure, also metal line for water temperature.

I’ve not seen a PSI gauge like that on anything- interesting.

The gauge in question is a Quicksilver (hence the Q logo) water pressure gauge Mercury/MerCruiser part number 79-825292 that's no longer available but could be seen in the following for sale links if image doesn't load below, https://www.2040-parts.com/quicksil...2-30-psi-nib-includes-fittings-wire-i1023994/

Thanks Fun Times! I stand corrected!

I fooled myself with the Google search about the Q but should have known better since I'm a long time owner of many Mercs in my time. Oh well, WRONG AGAIN. :/
