Hot Water when engine is shut off

2012 BF150 runs fine, no alerts/alarms. When running the water from the telltale and the lower outdrive holes (when running on muffs) is solid and not hot. However, after pulling the boat out of the lake and lowering the drive to let water run out, the water coming from the lower outdrive holes (under the gear lube check level screw) is HOT! Not scalding, you can hold your hand under it, but it is definitely hot. Changed the impeller (looked fine, no damage) and the lower gear lube (looked old, but nothing major), same thing. If you run it on muffs the water from the lower holes is fine, but once you shut the engine off, it drains out hot. Is this something to be concerned about?

That's simply because the water is no longer circulating and is absorbing the heat from the block and heads. Don't worry about it. When running in the water, feel the telltale. It should be very warm but not really hot. If so, you're good to go.

Don't hold your hand under the tell tale as the engine is being switched off. The fact that the pump stops pushing water lets what is still moving in the block get really hot. It feels almost scalding hot to me!
But, as chawk_man says.....normal phenomenon.
