Honda outboard motor SFI/HO2S 200 HP

This engine 2002-5? ...will start up and run for a bit and then shuts down is there some sort of automatic heat cut off switch in this engine or does anybody have any idea besides water in the gas which it is not supposedly.

It will power down due to overheat but you should be getting an alarm and warning light before it quits.

You might want to check for any codes.

Pull a fuel sample into a clear container and let it sit for a few minutes to see if any separation occurs.

Thank you , you verified my top two choices for what maybe problem. I'll check about if alarm went off from my in-laws.

When is the last time you changed the HP fuel filter? Have you drained the VST to make sure there is no water in there?
