honda bf 225, strange overheat beep signal?

hello, please if someone has any idea, or at least is this normal behaviour for the control lights? so it is bf225, year 2010, is it possible that overheat light together with continuos buzzer (so classic overheat signal) turns on after just minute or two after starting the engine? i mean, can it somehow overheat after just few minutes running? after the alarm it does usuall thing - lowers the engine at around 1500, and turns it off after 20 seconds. normal start after that, and engine seems to run just fine???thaughts? impeler and pee are just fine, impeler changed few monts before so dont think that might be the issue...
 
I suspect that you have a bad heat sensor. The trick is to find out which one of the three.

If you have a four-light key switch, pull codes. Procedure is attached. What the codes mean is also attached. Best procedure is to first pull codes, write them down, clear codes, as explained in the first document, then run engine until it alarms. Then pull those codes.

If a code 6, then there is a problem with the ECT - block temperature sensor, which is a bugger to change out. More on that below.

If code 24, it's manifold sensor 1. I believe that is the starboard side. If code 25, it's manifold sensor 2 - port side. These two sensors sit on top of each manifold and are easy to get to. Before changing out, check wires and plug to make sure they are not broken or corroded.

Back to code 6. the ECT sensor sits in the middle of the V in the block. You need to pull one of the heads to get to it, which is a serious PITA. BUT, before doing that, go through the test procedure from the 2-pin connector. See third attachment.

chawk man, you are the man! thanks very much for the detailed help! i am somewhat familiar with the codes pulling procedures, but this was still more then helpfull. if it happens that there is problem with ECT, simple workaround to just simply try to disconnect wires leading to the ECT sensor is not such a smart idea, right?
 
If you're having an overheat, the DTC will not show a code, only log an overheat event. Only a faulty or open circuit to a sensor will throw a fault code indentifying the faulty one. I would start with replacing the thermostats, thet would cause a rapid overheat if not opening correctly, had this a number of times

iang, thanks for the input. however, i allready did few important things (heat related), just before the season. which means, impeler change, thermostats change, and serious water jacket flushing with one european cleaner (it is called "ivero cleaner" in southern europe if you are familiar). my original question derived from there, i couldnt believe that i would get overheat alarm just minute -two after the start and running on 2000 rpm. therefore i am also inclined to believe that it is the sensor problem etc etc...
