honda bf 15hp overheating

Hi there
i have a 15hp honda and the alarm comes on after 5 minutes of use ,I have change the impeller but still the same problem,there is plenty of water coming out the engine ,I have also remove the sensor on the head of the motor and water does go there,i have remove the motor and its all clear but i still have an alarm after few minutes .Any ideas??? Thank you.
 
It sounds like you probably need to take out the thermostat and test it or, replace it if it hasn't been renewd in some time. While you have it out, you can inspect the inside of the housing for corrosion or debris.

If it's not the Tstat that's causing this, it's possible that bits of your old pump impeller (or even one before that) have blocked a critical passage. Back flush using high pressure water and air is usually necessary to unlodge debris. Flush should be done with gearcase removed.

But, since you say water is flowing at the temp sender, my money's on the Tstat being stuck closed or partially closed.

I try the thermostat but no luck
 
Have you removed the water jacket on the side of the block, the one the thermostat fits into? If you take that off you may find the drain hole below the internal anode is blocked with salt, this is very common. Failing that you will have to remove the cylinder head as the small passages in it are easily blocked with salt resulting in hot spots.
