on startup my tale tale water stream is very low, but then after it warms up a little it gets steady at low idle and is fine from then on.

someone said that the thermostat has to open up, true? or is the confirmation stream bypassing everything else (thermostat)?

appreciate the help.

Normally the tell tail water is bypassing the t-stats. When is the last time you changed the impeller on the water pump? If not within the last year, that is what I would do first. When you remove the old impeller, look closely for missing parts off the vanes. If parts are missing, you will need to back flush the engine to get them out.

thanks, I have a new impeller, just haven't installed it yet. when you install an impeller do you replace all the gaskets or just reuse the old ones? is the thermostat in the same area as the impeller and how difficult Is it to change?

how do you find out just what year model a motor is. the only numbers that I can locate is the bf75 7.5hp and then serial number. is there a list that I can access?

thanks,

mactay

I can't help you on that. Normally the impeller kit comes with all the new gaskets needed, at least they do on my 225.

Hi, the impeller is located just above your gear case. The thermstat is located in the cylinder head. Both items require specific procedures in their respective replaceement. You can do a bit of damage and cause yourself some real headaches if you don't follow them. If you are going to work on it yourself, you should get a shop manual. The Helm Inc. Manual is around $30 plus shipping and is well worth the money.
