Honda 225 O2 sensor kit help

Ha anyone used this kit lately? I am going through O2 sensors every 40 hours or so on one motor. My boat has twins and the starboard motor has yet to have a problem. It also looks as if the kit may have been installed on the starboard motor because the o2 sensor on this one is considerably smaller.

The port motor on the other hand uses the larger o2 sensor and continues to eat through them. Was told there’s a kit to help with this problem. I was told the part number for my motor was 06356-zy3-325 o2sensor kit. My frame serial number is BAHJ1500203. Can someone confirm this is the right part number for my motor?

I was told the new ECU and o2 sensor helps alleviate this problem.

Any input would be appreciated before before I spend the $900 on this kit.

I am not sure what the difference is but 06356-ZY3-305 is the correct kit available from boats.net for $367.28. A little piece of advice here, the kit comes with a reducer to take the smaller O2 sensor, I would order 18120-ZY3-C01ZA (98.50) which is the later manifold which not only comes with the right size thread, but it is raised so as to carry the O2 sensor out of the main exhaust stream reducing the possibility of water damage. You will also need to order with that the gasket and O ring - numbers
18125-ZY3-003 and 91301-ZY3-003. Do this and you will fix your problem.

Take Ian's advice on this with the upgraded manifold. The issue is covered and explained in Honda Service Bulletin #70. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will return the SB. It's too big to load on this forum.

My part numbers don't refer to SB70, they are for the later port manifold used on the AK series motors and a much improved design.

Ian - roger that. Should have been more clear in my post.

Bryan, let me clarify what Ian is recommending. Your engine SN falls into the A6 and AKO model range. Honda SB 70 calls for a new ECU and modified HO2 sensor for a permanent fix to the problem. Parts shown below. (Hope this come through OK...

BF225A (From SB #70)

Description____Qty_______Part Number
HO2S Kit_______1_______06356-ZY3-325
Kit includes...
__ECM_________1_______34750-ZY3-A04
__HO2S________1_______35655-ZY3-C01
__Adapter______1_______90074-ZY3-305

The adapter is for filling the new smaller-diameter HO2 sensor to the old sensor hole in the port manifold. Ian is saying to replace the manifold, manifold gasket, and O ring that will raise the HO2 sensor and keep it from failing again, in which case you will not need the adapter.

Gents, thank you very much for the info. It seems the best kit with the ecu and all the parts I need will be the kit 06356-zy3-325. I will also look into changing the manifold as well. Hope to buy the kit within a week or two. Thanks for the help.

Is this thread still active?

The threads stripped out of my manifold on my Honda bf225 2006. Serial number BAHJ-1400140
I did the upgrade with the new O2 sensor, bushing and ECM. My part number for manifold has been discontinued, will manifold 18120-zy3-c01za work?
Thanks
