Help with Honda bf20 Oil pump fitting

Hello, I took the oil pump off to clean it and give it an inspection, and now I can't seem to get it to fit back on the damn motor. The piece will only go to the line that is colored. Am I missing something here? I've inspected the hole and I absolutely cannot find anything that will prevent it from going in furthur, which needs to be done so I can put the screws back on. Any help is appreciated.

Hi again,

There is a "pin" (more like the tip of a slot screwdriver)on the end of the camshaft that drives the pump. The pin fits into a slot on the pump drive gear. You need to have the two lined up to seat the pump on the head.
