Bolt On Cylinder Head Temp Sender

Hi folks,

Following reading on of the threads on here then I`m considering fitting a bolt on cylinder head temp sender to my bf90d so I can see the engine temp at a glance via a gauge.

I`m in the process of renovating an Icelander 18 fast fishing boat that I`ll be fitting an outboard pod to so I keep the higher freeboard at the stern but will struggle to see the telltail stream to insure it`s pumping water ok.

Now the question I have is what the normal operating temp would be so I can see about buying the correct gauge to suit?

Here`s a link to the cylinder head temp sender I`m thinking about:- http://www.asap-supplies.com/brands...-head-outboard-motor-temperature-sender-90405

Cheers, Matt

If it's a pre 2007 model the thermostat temp is 72 degC.
If it's 2007 onward they have 2 thermostats(one for the engine block & one for the cyl head), & I believe the cyl head thermostat is 50 degC.

Just make sure that the gauge you purchase matches the resistance range of the bolt on sender. From that link, they do not publish the resistance range, so I suspect that you will need to also purchase the Faria gauge.
