If it ran ok and planned with full load before a service, then it should do the same if not better after a service. Since they missed something as an oil return line, they could also miss or pinch vacuum lines (of which there are many on the 225). There are several under the intake in which they have to remove to adjust the valves.

If you have trim tabs, are they working?

If all seems to check out, then.....

I think a call to the dealer would be appropriate.

Mike

A tuned up 225 on a 21 ft bass boat should plane in a couple of NY seconds. What kind of RPM's are you getting when it is WOT and not planing? If you are up around 6000, then in addition to Mike's recommendations, check for a spun prop. If you are not getting between 5500 and 6000 RPM's check your prop. It is not unheard of for props to get swiped and replaced at a boat yard.

What chawk_man said plus you can get something wrapped in the prop at any given moment. For what you do, I'm hoping you reply that you check your prop almost compulsively.

chawk_man, why is a NY minute faster than, say, a Cleveland or Dallas minute anyway?:)

Jimmy - Those are very scientific and rather precise terms. New Yorkers talk a lot faster than our brethern in Cleveland and Dallas - thus a NY minute has been reportedly timed at about 30 seconds in real time, whereas a Cleveland minute is around 60 seconds, and a Texas minute can vary from 90 seconds to 300 seconds, depending on which part of the state you are in. Engineers should know these things from an early age.

Thank you for your input trim tabs are working the first thing I checked was the prop I marked the center hub it is not spun WOT 5500 to 6000 runs great just will not get on plane once it's on plane she moves just fine and you can hear her wanting to plane just needs a help planing it is back at the Honda dealer I was told I should know something Monday and I marked the prop it is the same one that has been on the motor for six years

If no change in boat, no change in prop, hull is clean, and you are getting 5500 to 6000 RPM, then the only thing I can think of is that the variable timing (VTEC) function is not kicking in. The engine is tuned to operate efficiently in the 500 to 4000 rpm range, at around 4000 to 4200 rpm the timing shifts to run more efficiently at higher rpms. That would be an issue with the ECM. I will be interested in what the dealer has to say. If he has the HDS computer, that should reveal the problem.

Jeez, that must be aggravating! "hey man! run up forward so I can get her nose down!" So it was running better before the service?

Yes, please don't neglect to let us in on what you find.

One other thought I had would be a real long shot but have you changed anything about the way you fuel up? As in did you access fuel from another source that may have given you a contaminated or inferior load? When we speak of horsepower in an engine, we speak of fire and that means BTU's in the fuel.

Good luck.

OK well got her back went out on the water SHE RUNS right cam was one tooth off now she jumps up on plane
all is good thank you all for your input .

Glad to hear you are running smoothly. However, I would sure want to fully understand how in the heck the cam got one tooth off. That is not supposed to happen on that engine on its own. Did someone screw with the cam belt adjustment?
