Bf 150 overheat alarm while flushing motor

I have a 2006 Bf 150 that i'm getting an overheat alarm on. The tell tail has a very weak stream when flushing and the alarm sounds after about 5 minutes. So far I have replaced both thermostats Trying both in different places,
(I know they are different although have not read anywhere how to determine which is which or were to place either one)
Replaced the impeller,(positioning the fins both ways) and replaced the pop it valve all to no avail. Any thoughts? I use the boat in salt water flushing it every time after use. I have 895 hours on it and until know has been trouble free.

Did you just replace the impeller? better to replace entire pump housing and all other parts.
Yes only the impeller & gasket the housing looked fine. Thanks for the input I will check on parts tomorrow. I have not had the boat in the water this season yet. I was just doing a pre launch check when this developed. It has never overheated on the hose before. Guess it cant hurt to put it in the water. Ill give it a try.
Thanks

I have a couple of pumps in the shop, will have a look at one in the morning and get back to you. To be honest, I have never run one in a bowl to be able to comment, always a first time.

Read Chris' post - these big Honda's all overheat using muffs and a typical garden hose. Just not enough water to cool the beast. You need to drop it in a barrel FULL of water. The water level must be above the water pump.

My alarm went off once while on muffs. Turns out the hose was kinked, and I shut it down immediately. Once unkinked, all was fine. If you have one of the cheap IR guns, you can check temps when you put it back on muffs or in the water.

Where is the poppit located on these by the way? That is something I need to inspect!

If you are going to work on your engine, it might be a good idea to purchase a shop manual

Chris and C hawk. Thanks for the tip. I took the boat to the launch ramp, fired it up and good stream no overheat Alarm!
funny thing is I have 890 hours on this motor with several muff rinses and have never had an issue? Maybe the muffs are worn? Either way thanks again for the input. Going fishing this weekend!

Halibut, central coast California.

Good for ya. I went halibut fishing one time on a "head" boat off Homer, Alaska. One 90 lb fish at over 400 ft down using an old worn out reel. Not a lot excitement or fun. As someone observed, it's like hauling up the hood of a '57 Chevy from 400 feet down. Not a fan of head boats under any circumstances.

Good luck, and good eating. Let us know how your engine ran.

Can someone point me in the right direction for the BF150 pressure relieve valve o-ring? I can not find the part on boats.net at all. I have the service manual, but can't find a part number!!!

Never mind, found it!!!
