Beeping every second.

issue is the same as a few others on the forum. After about 4 seconds at start up, I get a one second interval of beeps. After about 5 minutes of this the light goes steady and about another 5mins the alarm goes steady. About 20 seconds later the engine shuts down. Water at the tell all hole is cool. Exhaust manifold Hot. At full throttle I get about 30 Mph at 4500.

I started getting the one second intervals when I had disconnected the battery cables and then reinstalling the cables to opposite batteries. I tried putting them back how they started but have been getting that steady beeping ever sense. I don't know if it's electrical or something else.

I did get the plug in wire diagnostic plug. When I just turn the ignition on I don't get any code beeping other than that second interval beeps. What did others find wrong with theres.?
 
It might help others help you if you provided your outboard's year, model, horsepower.

Hopefully, you didn't hook the battery polarity backwards when you were switching around as that could harm the ECM or. CDI. You may want to go back and retrace what you did to ensure that wasn't done.

Yes it's an '04 Honda BF225 four stroke. So now it starts beeping 5 seconds after I start up, 1 second intervals. The check engine light is a steady light on.
 
Well, the 1 blink is listed as an O2 sensor fault and these were known to have issues in that area.
But, have you checked all of your fuses?
Hopefully the folks with more experience with these than me will chime in soon.

Thanks jgmo, The beeping that I speak of is while the engine is lit. There is no code beeps or lights with just the ignition switch on and with the code plug plugged in.
 
Pull codes. Procedure is in the first document. What codes mean is in the second document.

Best to first read codes and record them, then clear codes, then run engine until it beeps, then read what codes you get. That keeps you from reacting to old fault codes that still reside in the EPROM.

BTW - the BF 225 does not do well on muffs. They will overheat and throw an alarm within a few minutes.

Yes I found out about the muffs. Thanks for the info. To clarify what I was getting was a constant 1 sec on and 1 sec off with the Mel and buzzard only while the engine was running. When trying to get a code with the schunt on the red plug while key was just on I got nothing. So one thing I remembered that I changed was the brain so I put the old one back on and low and behold no more beeping while engine was running. Someone had mentioned something about if you put a newer brain with an older O2 sensor this may be the cause. What do you know about that ? I will be launching my boat tomorrow and I'll let you know if everything is well.
 
I have 2006 bf50A honda four stroke motor on my pontoon that I purchased from friend after been sitting about year in back yard . So here is where my problem begins lol . Engine idles arond 1100 ram if I turn it down to idle around 950 - 1000 shaker really bad . I replaced spark plugs, gas lines , new squeeze fuel bulb , and added fuel filter next to squeeze bulb, new engine oil, gear oil, water pump was destroyed palling a part . That is all I did so far . Now runs 80% better than before but when i took it for test run other day and soon I pass half throttle it kills the engine with overheating alarm. So I went and replaced the water temp sensor and still same problem . Half throttle kills my engine. Only thing I have left to do is take carbs off and cleaned them properly I hope that will fix the issue. Any additional information or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance .
 
1. Did you replace/check the thermostat?
2. I’d suggest a vinegar/other cleaner product in a barrel with thermostat removed. Do it at 1500-2000 rpm. Are you getting good flow now out the telltale?
2. I’m a big believer in running a high dose of sea foam through the fuel system, best done under load.
3. Have you done a valve adjustment?
4. If the above doesn’t cure the problem, do a carb cleaning.
I’m not a carb cleaning expert so no advice from me on that.

Seems like you have 2 problems, overheating and fuel system.
