65 HP Model

Gotta go to 1000K or smaller "Litphoto" is what I use. Creates it's own file for all your scrunched photos....easy to find. Keeps your original photo full resolution with your regular album.

Thanks timguy. I reduced the pic that racerone needed. It would be nice if the system told you the pic was to large instead of acting like it loaded it and then not do it. I was a software guy so I can get a bit picky.

That is NOT the correct way to mount this motor.-----I believe those 2 bolt holes were only meant for use in the shipping crate.------Find the correct brackets !!----Listed on this site with ----exhaust housing ----parts.

It was definitely mounted with those 2 bolts. The cut off bolts were still in the holes in the transom. Probably jury rigged it since doing it right would cost more than the motor is worth. I bought the boat, motor and good trailer for $200 as a project to keep this old man busy. It's been great during this COVID lock down but if it never sees the water it's not the end of the world.

Thanks again to all for the help, Bob

The brackets that you need were used on the V-4 motors from early 1960's to 72.-----And on the 3 cylinder motors 68 to 72.----------------Should be easy to find them I think.

I'll be searching the web and after the COVID thing I can dig around here in P'cola. If anyone has suggestion I'll sure take any advise. Thanks, Bob

If you are on a tight budget, Tim's Outboard in Hackensack MN 218 682 2331, might have those brackets as well as stainless steel bolts. For rust dissolver try mixing a 50/50 solution of acetone with automatic transmission fluid. It works about 3 times better than any over-the-counter product. Just mix it up in a oil squirt can. I had bought almost the same rig after hurricane Andrew had destroyed area south of Miami in the 90s, think it was 94. Andrew had flipped it off the trailer and up against the guy's house, trailer ended up in the swimming pool. We saved my brothers house but half of the homes in Perrine were totally destroyed
Loved that motor, but saltwater damage was hard to accept. I eventually sold it.

Found this on FB. 95 model. Appears to have the same bracket as mine with just the 2 bolts to the transom. Had a great 35 that I think had this mount style.93840263_10219187465771366_6518506976496844800_o.jpg

Nope that motor has 4 bolts through the transom.-----In 73 they did away with the brackets as used in 72 models !! ----The mounting holes were no longer in a separate piece.

Right on, Racer. This motor pictured is directly bolted on. Bob's motor fits into a "cheekplate". Why? Great idea......easy to remove motor for replacement or extensive repair. I do believe that this mounting system is more "transom friendly"......although "some may argue".....I love that quote.....not sure, but it might be "Racers".

I'm back!! Been sidetracked for awhile.
timguy - Looking at transom and motor it is obvious that this thing was bolted directly to the transom like the pic above so I'm back to working on the rusted bolts in the mounting bracket.

I've been soaking the 2 bolts with acetone/ATF mix like somebody suggested. They won't budge so is there any chance that these are threaded? I don't think so.
Probably end up trying to drill them and screwing up the bracket.

Now for the overheat alarm. The one in the control box is rusted all the way thru the case. It does give a very puny little groan when I jumped the 2 wires to the sensor but you would never hear it. Replacement horn is pretty steep so since it is a simple 12 volt horn how about I wire an external one?

Thanks again to all for your help. Bob

Sorry mate ---You need to find the correct mounting brackets that will fit 72 and older 3 cylinder motors.----Or the 72 and older V-4 models.-----Not sure why you do not understand the concept.
