2002 BF stall

I have a 2002 130 that cranks just fine, but stalls after about 2-3 seconds. Ran out fine last weekend. I have not had a chance to get into it and look yet, but I am thinking water/fuel separator or fuel filter. Seems like it is staved for fuel. There is fuel in the bulb when I manually pump it. Any thoughts on where to start before I get over there would be appreciated.

This sounds suspiciously like a closed tank vent. Check that it IS open and that it is not restricted by dirt or something. The portable
tank vents can vibrate closed over time. If you're not in the habit of closing it each time you leave the boat and opening as part of your starting "ritual" you might want to consider doing that. It keeps your fuel fresher, longer and rain water out.

If you have an in hull tank, you will still have a vent but each system is different depending on builder. When those plug up it can be difficult for it to take fuel.

If that checks out, never a bad idea to do what you plan about checking the separator and filter.

Good luck.

Agree with JGMO - First thing to do is loosen the cap on the fuel tank, whether it's a portable or built-in. If that clears up the problem, you have a clogged vent. Next, feel the primer bulb when acting up. If it's partially collapsed, then the fuel pick up in the tank is clogged, OR the check valve in the primer bulb is failing. And, yes, do drain the fuel/water separator. I assume you are talking about the F/W separator on the engine. If you don't have an external F/W separator, consider installing one.

When is the last time you changed the fuel lines and primer bulb? If more than 5 years, consider changing them all out, including the primer bulb.

I will check those out first. It is a 2002 Glacier Bay Renegade 2670. I have owned the boat for about 18 months, so I have never changed the fuel lines. I did buy the boat from a friend of mine, so I can get a quick answer. I know the starboard side fuel line was changed at some point, because the fuel tank was replaced. Thanks for the advice!
