I have 2 questions

1) I just did some work on my lower unit but I don’t know if this was happening prior. But I have water coming out in front by the shift rod between the top and the exhaust. Water pressure and temps seem ok. Am I hurting anything?
2) I have a hydraulic jack plate and hydraulic steering. When the plate is all the way down if I trim it all the way up the steering cylinder hits the plate. Is there a trim limiter I can adjust and if so how or is there one I can install?

Starting in 1991 they started installing a tilt limit switch.---You might look into one of those.------It was handy as no tools were needed to adjust and set it for the desired limit.

I found the switch but have no idea how I would nor where I would install it. I looked this morning and realized that I can raise the motor one more hole on the jackplate. Once I did that I have enough room now to fully tilt / trim the motor in all positions with no interference and no risk of breaking another set of fittings.

But, what about question #1? Is it harmful to the motor for water to be coming out above the exhaust / mid section around where the shift rod is?

Here are a few pics to help. Also, I took a picture of the port side head where it’s white. I think that’s the poppet. Does it look burned?

That hole is a vent.----It allows the poppit valve diaphragm to move.------The white stuff may indicate that it is leaking.------And no do not plug that hole.----Have seen some folks plug that hole.

Is #61 the one that kind of looks like a hat and goes over the housing? If so, I know I put that on there but I’m not sure what #62 is unless that’s the driveshaft o-ring.
if water is climbing the driveshaft is that causing damage or is that decreasing the water going to the heads?

Did you check #61 sealing surface in midsection?

Thank you for all the help, by the way. :). I do want to clarify... are you saying the carbs may suck up the water or just generally speaking the carbs aren’t very good?

So, I am looking to pull the LU this next week but was looking at the parts diagram. Part 77 says it’s a shift rod seal but isn’t the seal in the housing. First of all, does my GT150 have that and if so where does it actually go?

So it’s on the water tube that’s inside the midsection?

If that's missing could that be why the water is coming out up top by the shift rod (see pics above)?

??----Item 77 is NOT on a water tube.------Item 77 is just below the powerhead on the shift rod.----Item 77 has nothing to do with water leaking at the lower unit either !!
