    timing a 1992 115 hp 2 stroke mercury

    In checking the timing on a 1992 115 hp mercury found the idle setting at 24 ", manual states (max BDTC CRANKING 22 " BTDC) (WOT timing BTDC 20 "). Should idle timing be set at 22" or 20" ????????????? It starts and runs well as is,should I adjust it ???

    115 hp mercury 1992 starts ok but cut out in gear

    Motor runs well at start and will rev up in gear with ears on, but will cut out when put in gear on the water. Have taken the carbs off and cleaned, put in new plugs but still cuts out when on the water. Can some one please advise on what to check.

    low oil alarm on a 1992 115 hp mercury

    Is it possible to replace the low oil sensor alarm in the oil tank with out removing the oil tank. (looks like it may screw out) Have disabled alarm and added oil until I replace it.

    1992 6 hp mercury water pump connection

    Installed lower unit after seal replaced and found a lot of water coming out of bracket connection half way up leg ,also found the tell tale water flow slowed to a drip at very low revs. Is this normal ? or is there something I have not connected ?

    What gear should it be in to re install lower unit ? Have replaced seal below water pump,but not seals behind prop as no sign of leak seen here.(is this wise ?)

    How do you get at existing seal (behind prop)to replace it ? does the plate that holds it in screw out ?,do you need special tool to remove it ?.(The plate is about 60 mm dia with 3 deep slots)

    1992 115 hp mercury low oil alarm

    My 1992 115 hp merc had low oil alarm problem (I think) (oil in tank but alarm stayed on)Removed low oil sensor in oil tank so alarm out of action.(Can not fix it) Is there a way to check if oil is getting through as normal or could the alarm have come on if it was not getting through ?

    1992 6 hp merc exhaust

    Have a 6 hp merc (1992)which runs well Not used for 12 weeks with no fuel in motor. Spent 3 days trolling with out problem. Found small amount of rusty colour un burnt fuel comming out the exhaust (had black un burnt previous) Does this indicate a possiable problem.

    Heating problem on a fishing trip Motor whent wekll for 4 hrs then over heated. Removed thermostat and whent like a clock for next 6 days Is it neccessary for a thermostat on this motor ???

    6 hp mercury 1992 running problems

    Motor starts ok(2 or 3 pulls) and runs for a few minute then stops,if the choke is fully pulled out before it stops it revs up then dies. Try to adj lean and rich screw,turn it clock wise (right) works ok (dies), but can turn left many times with out any change to revs.(does not effect running)
