2006 BF200, still working on shift issue, quick question

Here is a picture of the fit. I would have expected it to slide freely down onto the lower shift rod. I cannot tell if the teeth are buggered up or not. I suspect this fit is the root cause of the binding shaft. Any experienced eyes that can confirm it should be a better fit?

2006 BF200, still working on shift issue, quick question

I have pulled out the shift rod A. This is the long rod that runs from the mount plate to the lower unit. The female end mounts onto the male splined shaft on the lower unit. Question...how far does the female end slide onto the male end of the lower shift shaft? Mine only goes on about 3/8...

    06 BF200 20" shaft shift rod issue - binding?

Dropped the lower unit to replace my water pump. Put everything together, the shifter is binding. The boat is a dual station with tower set up with Morse controls. I replaced the gear change cable from the lower control to the motor. Each part of the system works as expected. With the gear...

    BF200/225 block mounted anodes

I keep hearing that there are a couple secret anodes mounted on the 200/225 blocks. These are supposedly not the 4 located on the exhaust manifolds. I have rebuilt my BF200, doing a block swap to remedy a rot hole in the water jacket. I do not recall seeing any anodes on the block. Granted...

Helm control options for 06 BF200

I have a 22' bay boat with two helm stations, one at center console, one up in tower. Currently I have a pair of Morse controls for gear and throttle. I have used them for years but recently have needed to adjust the wires repeatedly on the tower station. I would like to move to a more...

Installing new block on a BF200, anything to watch for?

I have a 2007 BF200 that has block rot. I decided to install a new Honda short block rather than fix this one. The block is ordered. I have the Honda service manual. It looks like a fairly simple procedure. Anything I should look out for? I will be installing the new exhaust parts at the...

Anyone able to confirm a Honda part number. Thanks.

I had posted some questions about what to do about a block rot issue. I have decided to purchase a new Honda short block. In my personal cost versus time versus quality of fix it seems like the short block is my best bet. My outboard is a 2006 BF200A6 LA. The Honda part number is...

    BF200 manifold anode

I am finding that the mechnic I paid to perform yearly services on my motor has been cutting corners and not necessarily replacing parts. I have found missing bolts, mis-matched spark plugs and parts like thermostats that look original, or at least several seasons old. I am taking over...
