wiring problems

I have twin 150's the tach on one works a little sometimes the volt gauge don't work at all the fuel gauge is hooked to the ignition on the same motor it does not read correct even the trim tab on that side quit working. Could the problems on the gauges be the ignition switch it all started at the same time.

I see that no one has responded to your post as of yet. Suggest you re-post the message with more information and a more detailed description of the problem. There are several Honda Tech's on this forum and many 130 owners.

Gee, with that many electrical gremlins involved... First thing I'd be checking is the wire connections at the battery (NO wing-nuts allowed!), clean/check all ground connections and the test the battery, especially if the motors have individual batteries. If they do -- swap them out, and see if the problems follow the battery.

Once you get the battery stuff checked....

Some of your problems could be from you switch...but if the motor is running ok, then the switch is working ok. The cabling to the gauges from the switch could be an issue. The two things that loop from one gauge to the other is +12v and ground. If you have a volt/ohm meter, connect it to the two posts on the back of the voltmeter. Compare the two voltmeter readings. If they are both the same, the gauge is probably ok, if not, then you have a bad gauge. If both read the same but not around 12v, then problem is somewhere in the wiring.

If you do not have a volt/ohm meter, troubleshooting is going to be a guessing game.

Your fuel gauge problem could be a bad sender in the tank. Assuming all of the gauges are getting 12v, then I would look at the sender. Turn the key to on and momentarily short across the two terminals on the fuel sender. If the wiring, voltage and fuel gauge are ok, then the gauge will jump to the full mark. Just do it less than a second, so you do not hurt the gauge.

If your trim tabs are hydraulic, and one side works, the problem is probably just coincidental to the other starboard problems. If it is a Bennett system, check on their web site for a troubleshooting chart. It is very helpful. If it is confusing to you, you can call them and they will give you some basic ideas where to look for issues.

I finally found a wiring problem that fixed all but the trim tab. I ran a temporary wire from the control box to close to the actuator it worked, so I ran wire permanent wire and it would not work so I ordered a new actuator. Thanks for the help

Hmmm - My experience has been that I've never had a Bennett actuator fail. Same goes for my current Lenco's. Switches and wiring can fail, but seldom the actuator itself.

You was right the wiring close to the actuator had shorted out, changed the wire out works good it was pretty rusty inside so I guess I will keep new one for a spare
