What needs to be taken apart

As the title says, what needs to be taken apart to switch from a 25 inch to a 20 inch mid section on a 2009 Mercury 250 Pro XS Optimax?
I have all the parts, just need the procedure.
Thank You for any help and suggestions.
 
Figured it out and the switch is completed, runs great, took it to 72 mph and it's was still accelerating.
Looking for a different 4 blade prop now, the 4 blade Stilletto on it now has worked great but engine is running at 7,000 rpms at WOT, believe I should go up 1 or 2 inches in pitch..anyone have a recomendation for a prop? Brand and Pitch?

The rule of thumb is that if you stick with the same brand and model prop as you have now, generally 1" of pitch = 150-200rpm change.

I’d talk to your local Mercury dealer, they should have suggestions. I’m surprised you got it to 7000 rpm and still accelerating. No rev limiter? Maybe start a new thread asking members on this forum for suggestions on prop selection.

Sometimes when I take off from a dead stop and floor it and it hits over 7,000 the alarm goes off till I back out some.
 
Have you inputted your boats running specifications and or boat size into Merc prop selector? I’m seeing suggestions to be,

Generally If you’re looking for more lift then consider trying the Rev 4 but with the hydraulic ? jack plate, you’re kind of adjusting that at will/speed/already so maybe the Fury (or similar) in your case.

Yes, your engine is there, you just missed scrolling down with your finger to the bottom was all....Should look something like this at the bottom you'll see your engine...
