What is this part??

Replaced the water impellor today and when taking the lower drive off this metal plate fell out. No where to mount it? No matching parts? Alpha One Gen2 btw.

Thats part of your exhaust shutter they migrate down into the drives exhaust passage when they fall apart. Depending on what engine you have there will be one or two of them just down stream of the exhaust elbows. If it overheated they tend to melt , would pull the drive if you just dropped the lower and look for more pieces and replace them

There wiil be two in the Y pipe, one on each side. You can usually slide the rubber connectors down by tapping them with a hammer and slide out the down elbows to get at the shutters. you may have to fish out pieces from the Y pipe and bellhousing by taking the drive off.

Yep, have a borescope ready. Still cant believe its 160 for a pair of Quicksilver flappers.

in boat units that is pretty cheap. get used to the wallet grease, boating is not know for being economical...
