what is the transom, also help me find three

I'm interested in the mercury 1000bp and need spare transom , where can I find 3? for parts and to keep mine working! What should I expect to pay for them?
Also what do I have to donin order to pair it with a 1979 mercury 90 hp?

What is the lower half of the engine called on a outboard? Where can I get 3 of those for 1000bp? John

There are a four basic parts on an outboard,the block, which is the engine.
The midsection is the leg,exhaust and driveshaft housing.
The swivel bracket,power tilt trim or transom bracket,which attaches the outboard to the transom of the boat also has the hydraulics that lift the motor up and down.Is this what you are looking for?
And the lower unit/gearbox is drive unit.Not the correct terms but should help

The 1000BP is a engine all to itself, and if original nothing off your 1979 90 will fit. It was a shortshaft motor with speedmaster lower unit. If its a shifting unit you have a 1000 or 1000SS
