Weight difference

A complete 3.0 with all accessories and manifolds comes in around 500+ lbs.

A 4.3 with all accessories and manifolds comes in around 700+ lbs.

so to answer your question,

Approximately 200 to 250 lbs difference. About equal to one of us who respond............I am guessing on that one!!

Thanks kghost, Im still trying to determine how much heavier the boat is from spec as I suspect waterlogged foam. The spec with the standard 3.0LX
dry weight is 1066kg so adding appx 100kg for the optional 4.3LX makes it 1166gk I have managed to get the exact boat weight using a public weighbridge and it comes in at 1360kg so appx 200kg (440lbs) heavier than it should be. Thats like 3 extra people.
 
That is the weight of the Engine only

Now add the transom assembly and outdrive.........Probably another 200 + lbs anyway......
 
Yes a boats published dry weight includes all basic accessories and the complete power train.

I added that post because you seemed to only use the weight of the engine vs the entire power train in your calculations.............
 
Yeah thats correct, I only needed to know the difference between the two engines so that I could add it to the published dry weight which as standard has the 3.0ltr
engine, so by adding another 100kg my boat should weigh 1166kg but it actually weighs 1360kg (194kg too heavy) I weigh 75kg so that means I'm carrying another
two and a half average people....... Time to dig up the floor and replace the foam and whatever else might be waterlogged.
BTW I took into account a full tank of fuel (100lts) when I weighed the boat which according to calcs is 75kg.
 
You want a rebuildable 5.7 to compare it to. free to good home, was a new rebuild but developed a bad #8 rod bearing. short block no heads

Nah, just leave it water logged and call it a wakeboard boat :D

I rebuilt a boat 10 years ago that had water logged foam. It's amazing how heavy a 1 cubic foot chunk of saturated foam can weigh. WOW!!!

You're in for a lot of work to tear out a floor to replace the foam. But, if you love the boat enough and have the time and skills then it's a rewarding project. Take a long hard look at the stringers, engine mounts, and transom while you're at it. It's also a great time to make sure the fuel tank is in good shape.

The boat I did was an outboard and had a completely rotted transom. I used a product called Seacast as the core for the transom instead of wood. It is a great material and gave that boat the strongest transom I've ever seen. http://www.transomrepair.net/index.php?cPath=1
I mention it because if you're stringers and engine mounts are bad you can use Seacast to replace them. The thing I love about the stuff is it will never rot and is ridiculously strong.

The only thing different was I used dead blow hammers to pound on the transom before the material polymerized. That caused bubbles to rise up and eliminate voids in the core material.
