Can't I just buy cheaper one from my local guy or internet supplier...they have equivalent OEM part for $25-65...what's with merc and boats.net charging$225+...???
 
Because they not a knock off Chineseim part that is not equivalent to OEM standards. Yes it might work for a while or it could cause additional damages. The old saying ya get what ya pay for
 
Bought a rectifier for a 2001 90hp 2 stroke off Amazon. It would charge the battery but the tachometer wouldn't work. Replaced with a CDI brand.
 
well, you will be able to replace it if it goes bad but OEM doseant always mean quality when its manufactured overseas for the large companies,
Could also be the same part used in motorcycle charging systems too
