Transporting a motor?????

Let me know if this correct.

When laying a motor down, say on a flat bed trailer for transport..."many miles".
It would be prudent to dump the oil in it.......right?

Any other precautions to take I may not have thought of????

Thanks

yes dump the oil

I have shipped motor before and put it on crate strap it good to crate and stretch rap the motor tight as you can

I think that it would also be a good idea to wire a big, fat tag with some big, fat letters to the enabled engine stop button saying;

ADD OIL BEFORE STARTING!

Hi,
I am "hopping" from lake to lake every few days checking out fishing and I don't want to drain the oil every time, but transporting the BF15 flat on pickup bed, many miles on gravel roads, causes it smoking and dripping oil after start. Not acceptable, clearly.
Does anyway know if here is a crankcase vent hose into the carb and if this is te only "leak" where oil leaks out when transporting?
I thought to block off this hose.
Hope it is that simple....

You mean the stickers - saying "this side up" I guess- Yes, engine laid down according to instructions.
The Oil level is always kept close to max, never above, but also not significantly lower I admitt
I thought the problem might be the relatively steep grades I sometimes have to take, so I thought about some otions
1. weld a bracket and hook it up to the hitch receiver, downside would be the dirt and debris, would require tight sealing in plasic wrap (-my boat is an inflateble, so no need for a trailer)
2. block off the crankcase ventilation (if there is only one...
3. lay the engine cross, rather than lengthwise on the bed
4. make a wooden bracket to have the cowling not flat on bed, maybe 6 ish inches higher than prop.
5. drain the oil - don't like this ooption
