My 92 48 spl

She runs good at speed but unreliable at idle and starring. You should see me at the dock lol

Waiting on carb kits and before I start fresh I noticed my two cam sleeves are missing. Probably an 8th inch or more of play in either direction...these damn tiny straw parts are pricey. With shipping I can not locate one for under $40.

Sounds dumb..but has anyone fabricated one? It's just a straw that slides over a stud- or got any ideas....

Also..side note..what is the spec on initial carb idle mixture screw setting... 1 1/2 turns out?

Thx

Yes. I located some poly tubing. Exact dead on size. Cost me $.22 a foot. Really only used .03 worth. And imagine...someone makes $15 off of a .03 part....
I did check, the tubing is rated at 200f and even if every year I replace it...i have 15 years worth lol

Maj92az-----I would say that you have no concept of what spare parts costs a manufacturer ---Consider the cost of a ware house and shelving / retrieval / computers / employees / packaging / shipping / profit etc.----This why on some online stores the cost of a part is $5.00 and shipping is $13.00.-------I do not believe they actually " make $15.00 " on that .03 cent part.

Yes. I located some poly tubing.
You have to be careful on this tubing/rubber hose fixes as the fuel vapors can make em swell and cause binding in enclosed cams. I have a buddy that worked for MarFab that makes em out of black nylon rod ..

As you can tell i put no actual thought in my post about making $15 off of something
You know what I meant and was in a humorous fashion.. and it would surprise you or disappoint you if you knew my line of work...i am well aware of the costs to accomplish a manufactured part....anyways sorry to offend.....

And unless I am mistaken I researched poly tubing has a high resistance to gasoline and other petroulm products...

Yeah..anyways. back to boats...

I was double checking the material I used, - the polyethylene tubing. It crossed my mind that it is the same plastic used to make the plastic gas cans/tanks. Thanks for the advice. I had to double check for sure. Some material sure will breakdown or swell.
