Threaded plugs - what type?

Hi there, I have at least one place I need to put a new plug into my 8V-71N where I need to seal a broken and unused coolant sensor.

What material of threaded plug is best to use? Steel, Brass, Bronze?

I believe this is a 3/4" NPT plug in the side of the thermostat housing. Of course they could be NPTF, and they could be half inch!

I would use brass. If it's a coolant temp sensor passage, the threads are likely NPT but you may still need to use Teflon tape or pipe dope to get a good seal without overtightening the plug.

Under NO circumstance would I use steel for this.
