Thread type on mariner

I have a late 80's 60hp mariner and have the leg off the motor. The nuts were badly rusted and need replacing however I took the nut to a hardware store and they could not identify the thread type. Any help would be great thanks.

How old was the hardware store type ?----------Did you check the fine thread section ?
