THIEVES! A question about gear ratios and props.

Hi, all......

I'm getting a late start on the season thanks to some thieving no-goodniks making off with the lower unit of my 175 efi.

Yes..... it sucks.

Anyway, I finally found a comperable lower unit nearby that should work nicely. The thing is, I'd be going from a 1.87 gear ratio to 2.15 (I believe). The new lower is OEM from a 150 hp motor.

Now, are there any foreseeable problems with the different gear ratio? What kind of pitch should I look for in a new propeller?

You would be better off finding the correct ratio but it will work
Say you had a 24 P prop and ran65 MPH with old unit. With the 2.1 ratio you would need to go to a 26P prop to reach same speed but the holeshot will be slower due to larger pitch
