Thermostat Question

When I changed my impeller pump last year there was 2 different springs for the thermostat, not knowing what spring was original (70hp 1995) does it really matter which spring you use

Should have used short spring on block side of t-stat and long one cover side

Hmmm there are 2 springs that come with the impeler kit, 1 is shaped like a cone and the other 1 is bigger but has the shape of a normal spring. And I believe they both are used on the cover side I didn't know there is 1 between the stat and block if that is what your saying
