Swap midsection onto another engine

Got a 2005 175 Johnson with the a short midsection I need to swap onto an identical engine, 2004 if that matters, is there any guides to accomplish this? Is it fairly easy?

It is not a difficult procedure. This video shows you everything you need to get the job done --> Dangar Marine Evinrude Shift Rod Adjustment Video. You will not need to remove the starboard lower carb, the retainer pin can be pulled without disturbing that.

When you pull the lower unit, DO NOT thread the shift rod in or out as that will change your adjustment. If you do move it, you'll need you use the measurement method in the video to set it back. Note, the engine he's doing is a 25" shaft so if you do have to measure, yours will be 5" shorter than what he shows.
