"I've got a 1974 century arabian with a 440 RWC and paragon v-drive (connected to the cooling system) So I just replaced an engine oil cooler that was leaking oil into the water, and when I test ran the engine I noticed that water was only exiting the port side exhaust, untill the thermostat opened then very hot water would start coming out the starboard side and continue untill the engine cooled back down to like 110F 120F then no water out the starboard side. i let it run like that for like 20 mins at about 1000rpm and it cycled about 3 times i've got the 140F thermostat in it is it supposed to do that??
I'm thinking the faulty oil cooler was causing the engine to run warmer than it should causing the thermostat to always be half open so water would always come out both ports.
the only other thing that bothers me is after shutting the engine down i could hear water boiling and steaming in the star. side bypass hose."
