Stuck at the launch ramp

So i have a 1975 70hp evinrude that runs like a new motor with muffs and in a barrel of water but the last two attempts to go fishing my motor idles in the lake but dies as soon as i throttle up to leave
WTH ?

I know the exhaust is under water at the lake but i thought if it ran good in a barrell it would do the same at the lake but NO!

Check your sync and link on carbs

Might be running on 2 of 3 cylinders.-----The first thing to do on a " problem " motor is a compression test.----Post your numbers.
