Still no reverse!

I guess this is a continuation of my previous thread about reverse grinding when engaging but there are some differences.
Background Info:
I had a problem with the dogs on reverse clattering during engagement and binding up the gears.
So far I've replaced the shift rod, shift cam and installed the late model cam follower. It seems that I need to replace reverse gear and the sliding gear as the teeth of the dog have worn enough that it pops out of reverse under pressure.
The problem I find now is that after only perhaps 2 hours run time the shift cam has more wear than the old one that had who knows how many hours on it!
as you (hopefully) can see the reverse portion is worn insanely more than it should be after so little use and the other portion is bad enough so...?
Suggestions welcome.
edit: using Quicksilver lube.

Something is wrong here !--------There is absolutely no way that the cam should wear like that in a properly assembled lower unit.----It should not even show any wear in the neutral spot on the cam after 30 years of operation.---Is this a factory lower unit or aftermarket ??

It's the factory unit that I just replaced the cam and follower in. The only reason I can think could cause that much wear is either a defective part (possible but not likely), low level of lube (was totally full) or defective lube oil (but quicksilver?). If I managed to put it together too tight somehow I could see some wear on reverse since that's where the most pressure is but not forward, the pressure just isn't there.
Anyways I guess I'm trying to see if there are any other possibilities that I've overlooked before I throw another set of parts in there.
Thanks for any ideas anyone might have.

Texasmark, it was bought on eBay and is a glm brand but they seem like they have some decent parts but this might be an exception.
Unless you use OEM, no telling what you get. Sierra parts seem to be pretty reliable replacements......Considering the LU is full of OEM lube whose purpose is to insulate metallic parts from touching, and the fact that the Cam Follower is spring loaded, and the system has been used for many decades on millions of engines....Do you only have 3 ball bearings in the prop shaft.....not 6?

Yes, three balls in the follower and since there is less friction with the late model follower than the original version it is even more ludicrous that there should be so much wear. I will have to assume that the cam is the problem.

That's the problem as aftermarket and likely not hardened properly...That why we call them Good luck marine as you need good luck for their parts!!!

Evidently quite true, I bought one from marine engine here and hopefully it will take care of the problem. I'm getting tired of not having reverse, glad I have a Trolling motor.

Just a follow up, I took a spring loaded center punch I have and that will give consistent force hits and punched both the glm cam and the old oe cam to see what would happen. The oe cam didn't have a dent at all where as the glm cam had a nice divot so definitely not hardened or not hardened enough.
So much for glm products.

Found the smoking gun and it made sense as to the problem. Great!
