Stator placment

I have a 75HP Force engine that was brought to me with a no spark issue on all cylinders. After running all tests outlined in the service manual I concluded that the stator is bad. The owner thought it was the trigger and replaced that component himself to no avail obviously. He never put the stator back in the proper place due the harness pinching on the ignition plate. How do I determine the proper placement of the stator to ensure correct timing? Thanks for any help :)

The timing is controlled by the trigger location not the stater. Mount the stater so that the leads clear the flywheel and easily reach the destination.

I know the trigger controls the timing. The leads are on the bottom so they will clear the flywheel no mater which way its turned. What your saying is use which ever set of bolt holes as long as the wires reach, the placement is arbitrary?

What year Force and is it a red stator???? Some of the Force stator has to mount a certain direction as to HP.

Its a 75HP engine. The serial and model numbers are really hard to make out. I'm thinking its a 1996 and yes it had the red stator. However, I'm not sure that it was the original one. Service manual says to mount it with the harness on the Port side which would put it on the opposite side of the ignition plate. Are the sides determined by facing the engine from the carburetor end of the engine? I think that was something learned in school But that was long ago. Thank you so much for the help :)
