Starting engine and other questions.

I have not started my engine in 8 months, inline 6 chevrolet. I hope to fire it up next month. Should I squirt a little oil in the engine cylinders before I start it? Thank you. Island Boy

If you put it away with a oil change and new filter. Just maybe dribble a little gas in the carb and start it up normally.

I first pump it a few times and leave it down 1/3 of the way and crank it.

If the engine was properly "Fogged" upon winterizing, it should not be necessary. However, it certainly will not hurt!
This is definitely more effective on engines with vertical cylinder walls..... such as your in-line six!

Just go, no worries. If it has been two or three years, maybe. It is a Chevy six after all. Should be fine.
