Howdy ya'll, My 25 hp Merc runs fantastic for a period of time 15 t0 30 minuets. After that it boggs down and 1 cylinder quits entirely. Soon after engine stops completely. I wait for awhile (30 minutes +) and starts right up. Then the whole thing starts over again. :( Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated! Dave

Switch box is what OMC calls a "power pack". It is the processing unit that takes the current from stator, signal from timing coil and produces power at the exact moment to the final ignition coil. Producing maybe 40,000 volts at low, low amperage. Spark should jump about 7/16 to 1/2 inch at decent cranking speed. If it is not that good of a jump, and not blue or white in color, then you have impending spark problems. The unit that seems most likely to fail when the motor heats up is normally the switch box.
