Some advice please (BF75) 7.5hp

I have a 1985 BF75 7.5hp 4 stroke outboard. The motor runs great. However, I feel like it has the potential to go faster than it does. When I have the throttle on fast - it feels as though the engine is not at top speed and that if there were some sort of adjustment that it could reach its potential. Is there any advice that can be given to steer me in the right direction to aiding this issue?
Thanks

You can also look under the cowl and verify that, when the throttle is twisted all the way, that movement is completely transferred to the carburetor and opening the throttle plate all the way.

Sometimes this requires disconnecting the linkage at the carb and comparing how far you can move the carb lever by hand to how far it moves when everything is hooked up.

Another thing that COULD cause this symptom is the prop. An inappropriate prop....meaning one that's too big or too aggressive in pitch....can slow the engine down considerably.

Good luck.
