Slow speed

Hello recently purchased a 13.6 ft deep V with a 1994 15hp Mercury 2 stroke and a 3x9.3x10 prop rt rotation with a Stingray Hydrofoil on my first trip out the boat would only do 8.9 mph. I've since went through the carburetor and am ready for another trip. I had the same type of boat years ago with an 18hp evinrude and it walked on water guessing around 20mph +. I've only had 2 people aboard + gear but believe it should have more speed any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No Sir I haven't. I currently do not have a gauge. If I have the correct information should it be 115-125 psi and no lower than 100psi. thanks

I run a 14 foot aluminum (Princecraft Fisherman) with a 1991 Merc/Mariner 15.

By myself with minimum gear I can "just" get 20 mph out of her.

With 2 on board, battery/trolling motor, gear for the day etc she is more commonly a 15-16 mph rig.

The "bare boat" goes 250 pounds so (reasonable guess) 750'ish "loaded" with two passengers.

So yes, you should see double your noted speed if everything is as it should be.

I'm in SW Ohio and we're getting our share of rain and high winds currently so probably looking towards next weekend to get back out. Believe I'll drop the fin and see how she does. I would be totally happy with the 15-16 mph. I haven't had it but a couple months so I'm not familiar with everything yet just glad the compression checked out good and looking forward to catching some fish this summer. Thanks again I'll probably hear from you and others down the road. Happy Boating
