Skeg replacement

I have a 1977 Johnson 70el77s. Would like to find a replacement skeg that slips over the old one instead of replacing the whole lower unit

The process is welding a replacement on. No need to change lower unit. Check with dealer, they would know where it can be done.

But if you do decide to get one of those stainless steel slip over ones, be aware that the dissimilar metals could create corrosion on your lower unit - especially in saltwater.
