Shift assist bogging down at WOT

btw great site. anyhow i have omc 5.7 i took the boat out the other day and when i was WOT for 2 mins the boat would just bogg down so i thought hey ill unplug the 4 wire plug that goes to the two switches and that was the problem does this mean i need a new ESA?? or is it the swithces?? i get 12v power, every thing is clean thanks in advanced

Only thing that engages the ESA is the gear shift cable. My guess is that you have a single lever control and when you push it all the way forward the shift cable (being out of adjustment), rocks the bell crank enough to mess you up. Me think zero dollar fix, adjust and retry. (see overstroke switch)
