Reversed battery connections

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, and am looking for some guidance and maybe sympathy. I accidentally reversed the battery cables on my 1967 Silverline, MerCrusier 120. I pulled it home and opened up the back. The cables smelled burned and were melted. Not sure what all I need to replace and whether or not I can get parts for this old boat. Thoughts?
Thanks everyone.

You can get a full engine wiring harness from the fine folks who run this site. New battery cables too. Not too expensive if I recall. Probably a couple hundred all done. Don't beat yourself up. Learn and move on. It's how you become an expert.
What engine and drive?
