removing outer Transom plate from 3.0 Mercruiser

I have had a leak in my boat for some time now and finally found it.
The outer transom plate has corroded through due to the Annodes not being replaced(wasn't me but previous owners).
I have everything out of the boat including the inner Transom plate, but obviously it has been there a long time and doesn't want to come off.
Any advice greatly appreciated as I do not want to damage the transom.
I have a new Transom plate ready to go on and the transom is in good order with no rot.
Thanks for any help.

#1, relax. You just remember that the thing is made of plastic. You aren't going to hurt it even if you have to take a sawzall to it; you can fill in the hurt spot.
#2, you have a replacement part so no need to be ginger with the one that's giving trouble.

Thanks for your reply.
I saw a previous thread in which you gave advice and I took that advice as well.
I took a copper mallet into the engine well and started tapping on the studs and it eventually started moving without any damage to the transom or hull.
Very happy that its out and I can start building up the replacement.
When I install the new Transom plate, would you recommend some sealant as well as the original genuine seal?
Thanks for your advice.
