regulator/rectifier replacement

Hi. I have a 1993 Johnson 150 motor and want to change the rectifier/regulator, but noticed the purple wire is missing from the new one. Will this cause problems if not connected, or can I rig to something else? If anyone knows anything about this, please help me. Thanks.

The old one was turned on/off with purple wire, the newer ones are redesigned and do not use the purple wire.

Make sure you tape off the old purple wire.
