There is a "Fast Start" feature incorporated in that engine that electronically advances the spark at a cold idle. WHen the engine temperature reaches a certain degree, that Fast Start disengages and the engine rpm drops down to a normal idle.
The purpose of the Fast Start feature is so that we do not need to advance the throttle when cold starting the engine. Frankly I don't care for this feature.
If the engine runs cold constantly, it's possible a thermostat is jammed open, something of that nature... OR... the throttle cable is adjusted loosely and incorrectly at the engine cable clamp.
