Dunno, he didnt say, on the other hand, he is so emotionless and dry, he could have been trying to torment me.

Get a new mechanic!

In the various diagnostics section of the Helm shop manual (Chapter 5) it often says to rev the engine to a certain rpm for a sustained period. For example, in the Helm manual where you are testing the HO2 sensor, it states: "Start the engine. Hold the engine at 3000 rpm with no load for five minutes."

So it's pretty obvious that your mechanic is not familiar with Honda diagnostic testing procedures.

And that's another good reason to invest in the official Helm Shop Manual - protect yourself from the BS.

He is primarly a Mercury guy, and like I said, be is so dry and expressionless, sometimes its hard to tell if he is serious or having me on, he also knows I am knowledgable and particular.
FYI, he is a friend as well as the best around, often takes time to get him to deal with less critical issues, but will come right away when its vital, heres an example.

last year when I had the 225s my kids were visiting and we were going to the Exuma Cays for a week, had the boat loaded, set off on our journey and withi. 15 minutes had an alarm.
I called him on his cell, discussed the issue, and he said to meet him at his shop, well he spent almost 2 hours around it, including trying a new ECM and eventually we got it going and went on our way, BTW he does not work on Saturdays.

when we got back, I stopped by his shop to remind him to bill me for the work,
"I cant do that" he said, you have been planning this for weeks, and had the boat all loaded up, glad we got it sorted out"

How can you not like a guy like that?
