Question about lubing my Johnson

Hello everyone. I have twin 2001 150 Johnsons. One definitely uses more oil than the other. I switched hoses at the motor to see if it changed but still the starboard uses less than port. I haven't done the numbers exactly but it seems to be using about 70:1 for both motors so I'm thinking the port is burning 50:1 and starboard is only burning about 90:1. Id prefer not to pre-mix.
Any advice?

Thanks

Well----90:1 is not good for your motor.----Best hurry to a shop and have them test VRO unit per the manual.-----A new motor or motors will be expensive !

Minnesota was the very first state to mandate the use of ethanol and probably because we are a huge corn producer. Perhaps that is why I am so used to seeing VRO damage caused by ethanol. I do not recommend using ethanol in any marine application. I have also seen rich VRO's which are caused by a poorly engineered cap on the oil tank. It does not provide adequate pressure release under certain conditions......namely heat and sun. You need to ensure that there is no restriction between the tank and the VRO. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE CONDITION I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE OIL TANKS. This includes Mercury Optimax units....with dirt and other contaminants. I would suggest removing the oil tanks, dumping out the oil, and clean them thoroughly. Let me know what you find in the bottom......or post a picture.

I would like to recommend more thought be put into thread titles. I was a little apprehensive clicking on this one from my work PC. ;)

Does the starboard a!so use less gas?

As for the thread title, I am clearly talking about an outboard. If anyone interprets it differently then they must have a dirty mind. (Got your attention though didn't it :))

Both feed off the same gas tank so I don't know if one uses more than the other.

So how are you getting these ratio's

Yes I am getting the ratios based on the oil reservoir consumption.
I don't think the pumps have ever been replaced. From what I am reading, rebuilding them only affects the fuel side and not the oil flow?
