Problem: After the boat is warmed up and run a good while, it will bog down when you throttle up. Sometimes you can back if off and it will work the next time.
History of the Boat: Boat has had routine maintenance - plugs, fuel separate replaced each year, fuel treatment each year, etc. I had EFI replace due to factory recall in early nineties, which incidentally fixed this type of performance problem (Mechanic insists that this is not the issue). Last year Mechanic performed three separate repairs (1) replaced low pressure fuel pump, (2) replaced high pressure fuel pump, and (3) replaced fuel lines. These repairs did not fix the issue, but Mechanic insisted that most of the repairs were needed and that he's been in contact with Mercury. He even offered to put the old parts back on for a fee and return the new parts. This year the boat would not run more than 100 yards and die. He then insisted that I needed a new ECU ($1,750 new part). We found a re-manufactured ECU for $800 and put it on. I've spent thousands of dollars and the Boat still bogs down.
What should I do?
