Pressure relief valve

I recently purchased a pressure relief valve for my 96 mercury 200 EFI. I traced the hose from my oil tank to a connection under my starter. The hose attaches to what I believe is the pressure relief valve, but looks totally different than the valve I purchased. Now I’m not sure if I have the right valve. Any help would be appreciated.

The OEM is back fire protected.......plus it will bleed of pressure when engine is not running.

I had to replace the oil reservoir cap as it had cracked. I had read that a possible cause for the cap to crack could be a faulty pressure relief valve. The relief valves are not expensive so I thought I would just replace it. Is there a way to check the valve or should I just replace it with the new one ?
